Upon retrieval of the bird be sure to handle it carefully, holding it by the legs and not the neck. Place in a cool dry place laying it on its back (belly down will speed up spoilage rate). Once back to your residence, tuck the birds head under its wing and slide it breast first into a Ziploc bag. If there is blood on any white plumage, use a wet paper towel to clean the majority of it. Preparations for mounting include a through rinse which will remove most blood stains, however cleaning stains prior to freezing will ensure proper colors for your finished product. When sealing the bird in the zip loc bag press out excess air. Double or even triple bagging you bird is highly recommended.

Waterfowl care after the shot

Do not put the bird in panty hose or wrap in newspaper. This will cause the bird to become dry and freezer burn much quicker. The quicker you can get the bird to me the better. Arrangements can be made for drop off, mail delivery, and local pick up under special circumstances.

I have been doing taxidermy since I was 12 years old. My father, who I have spent many hours learning from, has had a successful taxidermy business for over 30 years. He has helped me to fine tune my artistic eye. About 5 years ago I decided to start offering waterfowl taxidermy services to my good friends. This allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills with taxidermy. In the last few years word of mouth referrals have brought in many new clients and business has really picked up. This gave me what I needed to start my business and jump in feet first.


I have hunted sea ducks on the east coast and spring snow geese in Missouri. I understand what it means to finally get that trophy bird you have been waiting for. I am determined to take the utmost care and pay attention to every detail of your bird, so it turns out just the way you imagined it.


Waterfowl hunting is a true passion of mine and that is why I focus all my efforts on birds. Currently waterfowl taxidermy is the only service I am offering so you can rest assured that all my time will be dedicated to making your mount something you will cherish for years to come. Whether that is a little teal or a giant Canada goose your mount will make you the envy of all your friends.
